Airport Tours
The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority offers tours of Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) and Smith Field Airport (SMD) to school-aged groups and community organizations. The tour program aims to showcase various careers in aviation and airport facilities while instilling pride in our local airport. Tours must be requested by filling out a Tour Request Form. Once this form is submitted, an airport representative will be in touch to confirm your tour date and time, and to solidify details. FWA also offers tours to area businesses and professional organizations by request.
Before Making a Tour Request
Please review the following information before making your tour request:
- Airport tours are offered on a first come, first serve basis.
- Tours are offered on Tuesdays each week during specific hours (subject to staff availability - excluding holidays and busy travel weeks).
- Airport tours include a basic overview of FWA and/or SMD's history as well as airport operations and spotlights various careers at the airport and in aviation.
- FWA tours focus on airport jobs and commercial airport operations and facilities.
- SMD tours focus on general aviation and are more hands-on.
- Tours will be tailored to each age group.
- Anyone over 18 years of age must bring a valid government issued, photo identification.
- A tour request does not guarantee an airport tour spot.
- Tour requests must be made at least 14 business days before the requested tour date.
- Arrival time, number and type of vehicles and all parking arrangements must be communicated no later than one week prior to the scheduled tour. This is necessary for planning purposes.
- The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority reserves the right to cancel or change the tour at any time for any reason including weather, Airport conditions, staffing availability, or unforeseen circumstances. Tour details will be based on the day and time.
