Fort Wayne International Airport to Celebrate National Cookie Day

Fort Wayne, Ind. – Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) will be celebrating National Cookie Day on Wednesday, December 4, 2019 with sweet treats and special holiday crafts for passengers to enjoy.

Known for Hoosier Hospitality, and offering a fresh, locally made cookie upon arrival, FWA will be staying true to its reputation as “the cookie airport” for National Cookie Day. All passengers will have the chance to enjoy a special variety of cookies throughout the day in the terminal. In addition to cookies, there will also be self-serve hot chocolate available, as well as a holiday craft that passengers can assemble as they wait for their flights.

“Celebrating days like National Cookie Day is a fun way to bring more engagement to our passengers.” said Scott Hinderman, Executive Director of Airports, “With FWA’s commitment to delivering “Hoosier Hospitality”, and our long-standing cookie program, this is a nice tie-in to our mission to deliver excellent customer service, along with a cookie and a smile, to our passengers.”

FWA’s cookie program dates back to 1999, when the Hospitality Host volunteer program began in the terminal. Among Hospitality Host’s various duties in the airport is handing each arriving passenger an individually wrapped, locally made cookie from Ellison Bakery as a welcome to Fort Wayne. To date, FWA has given out over 2 million cookies to Fort Wayne visitors, and residents alike. The airport anticipates handing out its 3 millionth cookie in 2020.
