Fort Wayne Aero Center to Welcome The Wings of Freedom Tour August 6-8

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Wings of Freedom Tour will make a stop at Fort Wayne Aero Center from August 6-8, 2018. The Wings of Freedom Tour includes historic World War II aircraft including the B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine”, B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft”, B-25 Mitchell “Tondelayo” bombers, and the P-51 Mustang “Toulouse Nuts” fighter.

This will be a rare opportunity to see these historic aircrafts up close and visitors will have a chance to visit, explore, and learn about these treasures in aviation history. 30-minute flights will also be available on all aircraft to those who are interested. Tours will be available on Monday, August 6 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Wednesday, August 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Flight experiences for each aircraft will be scheduled before and after the open tour times.

The Wings of Freedom Tour travels across the nation as a flying tribute to the flight crews who flew them, the ground crews who maintained them, the workers that built them, the soldiers, sailors, and airmen who helped protect; and the citizens and families who share the freedom that they helped preserved. This tour serves as a “living history” event, allowing people to learn more about these historic aircrafts and their heritage and history through direct participation and hands-on learning.

The cost of the tours are $15 for adults, and $5 for children 12 and under. Flights in the B-17 and B-24 are 30-minutes each and will cost $450 person. Flight in the B-25 are $400 per person. Flight training in the P-51 fighter is $2,500 per person for half an hour, and $3,200 for a full hour. For reservations and information on flight experiences and tours call 800-568-8924.
