5th Annual “Home for the Holidays” Contest Kicks Off at Fort Wayne International Airport

Today marks the start of the 2012 “Home for the Holidays” contest, sponsored by Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) and The Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with WAJI, Magic 95.1. Two lucky winners currently in the armed services will be selected to fly home to Fort Wayne free of charge this holiday season to spend time with their families.

Interested parties who have a loved one on active military duty are encouraged to submit their story, in 300 words or less, explaining why their service person should come home for the holidays. Two winners will be selected to receive one free round-trip ticket to FWA, no matter where in the world they may be serving our country. Winners must be able to receive leave from duty to travel home between December 1, 2012 and January 31, 2013.

Among the 2011 contest winners is Matthew Art, FC2 - E4 U.S. Navy, who was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan last winter. Upon his homecoming, Art was able to meet his young daughter for the first time and marry her mother.

Also among last year’s winners is Gregory Bolden, E2 – PV2 U.S. Army. After his homecoming, Bolden’s mother wrote the Airport Authority saying, “Thank you for working so hard to bring my son home for the holidays. You have made this a great holiday and I will always remember your kindness.”

Visit www.waji.com to enter. Entries must be submitted by midnight on Sunday, November 25, 2012. Winners will be announced live on WAJI on Friday, November 30, 2012.
