2019 Jim Kelley Memorial Scholarship Recipients

Fort Wayne, Ind. – The Greater Fort Wayne Aviation Museum and the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority are pleased to announce the 2019 Jim Kelley Memorial Scholarship recipients.

The Greater Fort Wayne Aviation Museum will award Madeline Jackson of Carroll High School a scholarship on behalf of the Museum Board. Scholarships awarded on behalf of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority are to Michael Bender of East Noble High School and Luke Behringer who is homeschooled. All winners will receive a $1,500 scholarship to pursue a career in an aviation-related field.

The Jim Kelley Memorial Scholarship was created in 2006 in memory of Jim Kelley, a local entrepreneur and champion of aviation in Northeast Indiana. The scholarship is open to high school seniors planning to pursue an aviation-related degree at an accredited college or university, or those enrolled in the Airframe & Powerplant (A & P) Certification program at Ivy Tech Community College, located at Smith Field Airport. To be eligible, students must submit their GPA, an essay, and one recommendation. Interested applicants can direct inquiries to the scholarship committee at 260-747-4146.

Airport scholarship funds are raised through the Fort Wayne International Airport Scholarship Golf Outing, an annual event hosted by the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority each August.  The annual golf outing will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at Brookwood Golf Club. The Greater Fort Wayne Aviation Museum scholarships are funded through the generosity of private individual donors.

This year’s scholarship recipients will be awarded their scholarships at the Greater Fort Wayne Aviation Museum Scholarship Banquet at Orchard Ridge Country Club on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 beginning at 5:30pm. If you are interested in attending the scholarship banquet or would like more information on the annual Fort Wayne International Airport Scholarship Golf Outing, please contact Rebecca Neild, Air Service and Marketing Manager, at 260-446-3448.

Congratulations to all 2019 Jim Kelley Memorial Scholarship recipients.
